Disneybound 101: What it is and Why You Should Try It

A fun alternative to costumes for adults over the age of 14

Looking for a fun way to theme everyone in your family/group? Don’t want to spend money on custom-made t-shirts for everyone? Then, I introduce to you, Disneybounding. Disneybounding is a cheap and easy way to wear a group costume to the parks. “But wait, aren’t adults over 14 years of age not allowed to wear costumes to the parks?” That is true, but Disneybounding isn’t wearing a premade costume. Disneybounding is when you wear normal clothes that share the same colour scheme as a disney character of your choice. Most Disneybounders also wear accessories matching with the theme of their Disneybound, to give people a clue as to who they’re supposed to be. The best part about Disneybounding is that you can find everything you need in your closet! Disneybounding has gotten more and more popular over the years, so there’s inspiration everywhere! My personal favorite source for inspiration is DisneyBound, the official Disneybound account by Leslie Kay. This account can be found on both Instagram and Tumblr. Here are some of her ideas, so you can take a look for yourself:

Belle (Female Wear): from Beauty and the Beast

Rey (Ladies’ Wear): From Star Wars The Force Awakens

The Genie (Men’s Wear): From Aladdin

Fix-it-Felix Jr. (Men’s Wear): From Wreck it Ralph

If you’d like to know more about Disneybounding, I also recommend checking out this video by one of my favorite YouTube channels, Thingamavlogs.
